Rowell was selected as a member by Arts Leaders of Metro Atlanta (ALMA) steering committee, a group of Atlanta Regional Council (ARC) staff and selected ALMA alumni. This year's workshop features 33 artists, creatives, designers, urban planners, and city and county officials.
Participants will observe the role arts and culture play in community development and develop cross-sector responses to community issues. According to Councilwoman Rowell, the program affords her the opportunity to take part in real-world civic, planning, and development processes.
"I am excited to be a part of this group and examine the role art plays in planning and development,” said Rowell. “I look forward to using the knowledge I attain to immerse myself in public arts.”
The virtual workshop began on March 17 and will run through May 12. Toward the end of the program, members will present their final efforts in a juried design review.
