Major T. Johnson - criminal investigations division
Captain Tina Johnson joined the South Fulton Police Department on March 26, 2018. She was among the first law enforcement personnel hired to form the new city police department.
Captain Johnson currently serves in the Office of the Chief -Office of Professional Standards (OPS) where she manages grants, alcohol licensing, procurement and serves in various other capacities.
Prior to joining South Fulton Police Department, Captain Johnson worked at the Fulton County Police Department where she served for 24 years until her retirement in March 2018.
During her years with the Fulton County Police Department she has served in many different capacities to include:
Patrol Officer, responding to emergency calls for service. A Detective assigned to the Major Case Division, specializing in investigating crimes against women and children. In 2001, she was promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned to the Internal Affairs Unit, responsible for investigating complaints of officer misconduct. In 2011, Tina Johnson was promoted to Captain and worked as the Watch Commander over the patrol division. In 2014, Captain Tina Johnson was appointed the Academy Director of the Fulton County Public Safety Training Center, where she was responsible for overseeing the training of new police officers an annual retraining of certified officers.
Captain Johnson is a member of several law enforcement professional organizations including International Association of Chiefs of Police, Peace Officers Association of Georgia, and the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association.
She holds a Masters Degree in Public Safety Administration from Columbus State University in Georgia and a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Seton Hall University in New Jersey.
She is a graduate of the Mercer University Public Safety Leadership Institute and of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College.
