Your tuition and supplies are paid for and you will also receive a salary. When you complete the academy, you will go through a Field Training Officer (FTO) Program. This training is to prepare you to use South Fulton Police Department paperwork, computer system, radio techniques, policies and procedures. Upon completion of the FTO Program, you will have received approximately 14 weeks of field training.
If You Are a Certified Georgia Peace Officer
If you hold a basic certification from GA POST, you will attend the FTO Program for approximately seven weeks
If You Are Certified In Another State
Applicants who have received basic training from an academy in a state other than Georgia will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis whether they need to attend the police academy.
