South Fulton Police Chief Keith Meadows and Parks and Recreation Director Tony Phillips identified and recognized the community's desire and need for dedicated law enforcement in South Fulton city parks. Both leaders collaborated and developed a cohesive, specialized unit to serve under both the South Fulton Police Department and the South Fulton Parks and Recreation Department. The South Fulton Police Department Park Rangers. This new division employs sworn, P.O.S.T. certified South Fulton Police Officers. Chief Meadows and Deputy Chief Connie Rogers assigned the Community Policing Captain, Hattie Cotton-Tukes, and the Background and Recruiting Captain Theron Griffin to assemble the Park Ranger division. Captain Cotton-Tukes and Griffin worked diligently in determining which police officers possessed specific traits and community desires within the South Fulton Police Department. Determining factors included: low citizen complaints, level-headedness, communication skills, and problem-solving police experience. After submitting interest letters and conducting formal interviews, Sergeant Nicholas Williams, Corporal Jaloni Anderson, Corporal Roger Frazier, and Corporal Orean Bell were selected as South Fulton’s first Park Rangers.

South Fulton Park Rangers are a team of dedicated men and women that support the Police Department’s mission by providing high-quality police services in cooperation with our communities while implementing 21st Century Policing principles and adopting a guardian mindset as we serve the public. We will perform our duties with the highest degree of professionalism, dignity, respect and excellence in policing.

South Fulton Park Rangers provide public assistance and emergency services in South Fulton City parks, including first aid, park policing, search and rescue. South Fulton Park Rangers have various responsibilities in public parks and provide not only emergency and public safety services but also informational services at several parks. South Fulton Park Rangers are easily recognizable in their uniforms. South Fulton Park Rangers monitor parks, trails, and recreation facilities across the City of South Fulton and educate park goers on park regulations, city ordinances and safety measures to ensure a memorable experience.

The South Fulton Park Rangers hours of operation are 11:00am-9:00pm, however, evening and weekend work schedules are based on park activity needs and reservation schedules.

Sergeant T. Gibbons is responsible for the day to day operations of the Park Rangers.
