Census Rally

It’s time to stand up and be counted! Join the City of South Fulton as we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy and learn the importance of taking the 2020 Census on MLK Day, Monday, January 20.

Community leaders, city residents, elected officials, civic and social organizations will gather together for a Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade and Census Rally in the City of South Fulton along Old National Highway.

Why should you get counted? Check out these Census Quick Facts:

  • Census Day is on Wednesday, April 1, 2020
  • The census is conducted every 10 years. The first census was conducted in 1790.
  • The 2020 Census is the first U.S. Census that will be completed online.
  • Over $675 billion per year is distributed to state and local governments using census numbers.
  • The census helps to determine congressional representation.

These dollars are vital to communities as they forecast future transportation needs, determine areas eligible for housing assistance, and the funding helps local governments to provide services in education, healthcare, transportation, and emergency response.
